Rockers Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit opened a six-show residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Monday night. The Muscle Shoals, Alabama native and current Nashville resident led his band through a 19-song performance that included a debut and a guest appearance.
Isbell selected six Nashville-based acts as support for their 2018 residency with Molly Tuttle kicking off the action on Monday. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit began their portion of the evening with “Hope For The High Road,” one of eight songs from 2017’s The Nashville Sound to make the setlist at The Ryman. The group also pulled “Goddamn Lonely Love” and “Decoration Day” from Jason’s time with Drive-By Truckers and cuts from throughout Isbell’s solo career.

Last night’s encore started with the live debut of “Maybe It’s Time,” Isbell’s contribution to the A Star Is Born soundtrack. “I’m trying to tell y’all the truth. If you don’t like sad movies, maybe you go see the Spiderman thing,” Isbell reportedly warned the crowd about the sad film starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. After “Codeine,” Jason invited Molly Tuttle up to contribute to the show-closing “Something To Love.” Watch a clip of “Something To Love” featuring Tuttle:
