By Scott Bernstein Jul 6, 2017 12:31 pm PDT

Southern rocker Jason Isbell recently appeared on the PBS talk show Charlie Rose. Isbell chatted with Rose and also performed solo renditions of two songs from his recently released album with The 400 Unit, The Nashville Sound.

Jason and Charlie spoke about a variety of topics including his relationship with fellow country-rocker Sturgill Simpson, the current state of the music industry and The Nashville Sound. Isbell discusses the misconception about music coming out of Nashville and how he hoped his new LP would help change some of them. The singer-songwriter also talks frankly about his recovery from addiction and the role his now wife Amanda played in his getting sober.

The Alabama native started his appearance with a solo performance of “If We Were Vampires.” Charlie Rose also shared a bonus performance featuring “Last Of My Kind,” the opening track off The Nashville Sound. Watch the interview and “If We Were Vampires” followed by “Last Of My Kind”:
