Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit shared pro-shot video of their live cover of R.E.M.’s “Driver 8.” The performance took place at a recent concert in R.E.M.’s hometown of Athens, Georgia.
The pro-shot video footage was posted on the eve of the release of Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit’s Georgia Blue charity covers album benefiting nonprofit organizations Black Voters Matter, Fair Fight and Georgia STAND-UP. Isbell proposed the concept of the album on election night 2020 and delivered on the promise when Georgia was won by now President Joe Biden.
The 13 songs on Georgia Blue draw from musicians associated with Georgia. The album version of “Driver 8” features Isbell and The 400 Unit accompanied by John Paul White. Others featured alongside the band on the album include Julien Baker, Brandi Carlile, Béla Fleck, Steve Gorman, Peter Levin, Brittney Spencer, Chris Thile and Adia Victoria, as well as the group’s own Amanda Shires and Sadler Vaden.
