Japanese Breakfast (Michelle Zauner) teamed with South Korean band Silica Gel (실리카겔) for a collaborative single, “NamgungFEFERE.” The track arrived with a striking music video directed by Jan’ Qui.
“NamgungFEFERE” follows Japanese Breakfast’s acclaimed album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), which arrived in March. The fresh track sees Michelle Zauner collaborating with Silica Gel — Geonjay Kim, Chunchu Kim, Hanjoo Kim and Woonghee Choi — for the first time.

“NamgungFEFERE” also marked another first for Zauner, writing lyrics in Korean, as she explained.
“This was the first time I’ve ever written lyrics in Korean,” she said. “Anyone who’s familiar with my work knows how much my Korean heritage has come to mean to me, so it was very personal to collaborate with such a revered Korean band and to create something for a larger Korean audience.”
