After the demise of the first tour featuring the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup in 14 years, the band today released a new single entitled “True Love.” The song is among the first new music recorded by the original lineup since the release of 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual.
Recorded by frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins, “True Love” follows the release of the single “Imminent Redemption.”

While “Imminent Redemption” was played live during the band’s reunion run, “True Love” had yet to make a setlist of the now-canceled tour. The reunion tour was scrapped in the wake of Farrell attacking Navarro onstage during their concert last Friday in Boston.
“The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group,” a note from Jane’s Addiction stated. “As such they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
Navarro, Avery and Perkins issued a separate joint statement as well:
“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” they wrote.
“Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the three continued. “We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.”
Through a representative, Farrell responded to the tour’s cancelation in statement shared with Variety:
“This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
