Jane’s Addiction Plays 1st Show With Classic Lineup Since 2010

Jane’s Addiction’s classic lineup of frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins performed together for the first time in 14 years last night at Bush Hall in London. The long-in-the-making performance included the live debut of their new song “Imminent Redemption.”

Jane’s Addiction’s classic lineup was originally supposed to reunite in 2022 when Avery rejoined the fold after a 12-year hiatus. Navarro was unable to perform with the band while dealing with the effects of long COVID and Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and Pearl Jam touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer separately filled in while Navarro recovered.

Thursday’s concert at the 400-person capacity, +100-year-old Bush Hall began with “Kettle Whistle,” marking Navarro’s first time playing the song with the band since 2001. The opener was the only song played from their 1997 outtakes compilation album of the same name.

The set largely consisted of songs from Jane’s Addiction’s standout debut album, 1988’s Nothing’s Shocking and is excellent follow-up, 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual, hitting on favorites like “Mountain Song,” “Ocean Size,” “Three Days,” “Stop!” and “Been Caught Stealing,” among others.

“True Love,” a new song debuted by Jane’s Addiction last year, also made Thursday’s setlist. Next up for Jane’s Addiction is an appearance on Saturday at the Bearded Theory Festival in Swadlincote, England.
