JamBase Previews Redesigned Website

Dear Readers,

A new age has begun for JamBase as we have unveiled a preview of our long-in-the-making redesigned website. We spent the last year redesigning the site from top to bottom and we’re extremely excited to share the results with you. The new iteration of JamBase includes a bevy of new features, so we’ve detailed a number of them below to help you get the most out of your experience with our site.

Responsive Design

Are you checking out JamBase on a mobile device? We’re not surprised as like most places around the web, more and more of our users are accessing JamBase via mobile devices. One of the key elements of the relaunch is responsive design. By implementing a responsive design JamBase will be easy to read and navigate no matter what device you use to access the site.

Updated iOS App

We also launched a new iOS app today to coincide with the launch of the redesigned site. Just like the webpage, Team JamBase started from scratch to build out the new app. Finding shows in your area has never been easier, and you can quickly see who is playing in any city within a few taps. Head to the App Store to download our free, new iOS app. Android user? We haven’t forgotten about you, a new JamBase Android app is in the works.

New Photo Viewer

JamBase is pleased and honored to work with a number of incredible photographers. We’re thrilled to present a brand new photo viewer which will present their fantastic work in an easy-to-navigate way whether viewing on mobile or on desktop. The new layout allows you to effortlessly view sets of photos from concerts and festivals displayed in a rich resolution the way they were meant to be experienced. Band Member Appearances

We sliced and diced the data in our massive database in many ways as we prepared the redesign. One area we focused on is individual artist pages to give you a better handle on side projects and band member appearances. Musicians like Tom Hamilton, Mike Gordon and Steve Adams perform in a variety of projects, so rather than needing to get the dates those artists will appear at from each affiliated group, we created personal band member pages for an easier look at their touring activity. We’re not done yet as we continue to build out more individual pages in the weeks and months to come. Are there any individual musicians missing band member pages you feel we should add? Setlist.fm Integration

Our users count on us to provide setlists to the big events within our scene and beyond. Often we get this information from the leading setlist database on the web, Setlist.fm. As we build out the new website we’re integrating setlists from Setlist.fm within our band pages. Over the next few months we’ll continue to incorporate more setlist data for more artists into JamBase. Additionally, you can view setlists on event pages after a concert has happened. Head to the Foo Fighters page for an example of the Setlist.fm integration.

One of our goals of the redesign is to enhance the ability to personalize JamBase to your specific tastes. We’ve installed filters on our articles and shows pages that allow you to see the posts and concerts for the artists you track. As with many of these features, they are best used when you are logged into your JamBase account. Thankfully, registering for and setting up a JamBase user account has never been easier.

GeoIP Functionality

Our new website picks up on the location you are accessing JamBase from using GeoIP functions. What exactly does that mean? Check out our homepage and you’ll be shown a list of concerts in your local area. This also works for ticket giveaways: you’ll be shown nearby concerts first when you access our Contests Page. For the best experience finding local shows on JamBase, login to your user account to get the most accurate listings. Another benefit of our using GeoIP function comes within show listings. For example, look at the list of Mike Gordon dates above in which you’ll notice any local shows highlighted before the full list of tour dates.

Article Collections

Do you have a favorite JamBase column or regular feature? We launched Article Collections to make it much easier to follow our columns. Big fan of Chad Berndtson’s monthly Art Of The Sit-In features? Simply click here to see past AOTSI articles. Same holds true for our recurring features such as Tour Dates, DVR Alerts, RecommNeds and Reviews, Photos & Recaps. We’ll be adding more posts from our archives to the site in the coming weeks and months.

Couch Tour Alert Filter

Our users love webcasts and with more and more shows being broadcast we know sometimes it’s hard to keep track of them all. In addition to continuing our popular Couch Tour Alert column we also added webcast information to our event pages. Use this Couch Tour Alert Filter to see all shows in our database that will be webcast.

Save For Later

Come across an article you know you want to read but don’t have the time to do so at that moment? We have you covered with our new Save For Later feature. Simply hit the “Save For Later” button on a post, and head here for a list of all articles you’ve saved whenever you’re ready.

Over the past 15+ years we’ve seen many websites come and go. We’re honored that JamBase has stood the test of time and feel our redesign puts us in a great place to continue to be your resource for live music news and more for years to come. Our team is far from finished – this is just the first iteration of the new website. We’re still working on a number of features such as bringing back the ability to see the shows your friends are attending and the Android JamBase app we mentioned earlier, both of which (and host of other features) we have in store for 2016.
