As another remarkable year in live music draws to a close, JamBase presents its end of year charts of the concert and touring industry in 2024. Drawing from JamBase’s comprehensive database of concert information, JamBase’s annual Year End Charts help tell the story of live music in 2024.

The concert touring industry reached impressive heights in 2024, with 307,002 concerts worldwide, according to JamBase’s database of ticketed events, not including Festivals. With nearly 85,000 artists taking to stages in 24,241 venues and delivering over 462,000 performances, fans had incredible access to live music across all genres and formats. Those stats grew from 2023’s totals, increasing from 306,309 concerts and 447,585 performances.

Festival culture maintained its strong momentum, with 2,840 festivals dotting the calendar throughout the year. Evidencing the revival and expansion of the post-pandemic live music landscape, the total grew from 2,660 festivals in 2023.

Daniel Donato emerged as the hardest touring artist of 2024. The guitarist took his Cosmic Country tour to 127 venues and 110 cities over 148 concerts, exemplifying the robust return of touring artists to stages worldwide. Coming in close behind were Royel Otis with 141 shows and Blackberry Smoke with 137 concerts.

New York City’s maintained its position as the busiest venue in the country, hosting an impressive 568 concerts throughout the year. Across the Atlantic, London’s New Cross Inn featured the most variety with 725 different artists appearing on its stage.

JamBase’s editorial coverage in 2024 reflected the dynamic nature of the live music scene, with our newsroom publishing 3,551 articles. Demonstrating an ever-expanding scope of coverage, over 1,950 different artists were written about, up from 1,485 in 2023. Live music dominated the news cycle with 871 dedicated tour announcement articles and 800+ show recaps, while festival coverage resulted in 292 announcement pieces and 18 in-depth festival reviews.

Phish maintained their position as one of the most covered acts with 121 articles, followed by Billy Strings with 87 features. The Grateful Dead‘s legacy continued to captivate audiences, with the band and its various offshoots generating substantial coverage throughout the year. Pop star Taylor Swift's record breaking The Eras Tour generated 23 articles.
