The Infamous Stringdusters will release a new album of all original material entitled Toward The Fray on Americana Vibes via Regime Music Group on February 18, 2022. Today, the jamgrass quintet unveiled the 12-track LP’s title track.
Toward The Fray follows 2020’s Dust The Halls: An Acoustic Christmas Holiday! and the release of A Tribute To Bill Monroe earlier this year. 2019’s Rise Sun was the group’s last LP consisting solely of original material.
The Infamous Stringdusters assembled to record the forthcoming album after spending six months apart due to the pandemic. Usually, the band works out material for their LPs while on tour before entering the studio. This time around, the members had only heard each other’s demos when they started to record Toward The Fray.
“It’s been fun to explore a little bit of The Dusters’ darker side for this album,” dobroist Andy Hall explained regarding Toward The Fray. “Sometimes the times call for some serious reflection, and these songs really hit home. Get ready to go deep with us!”
Guitarist Andy Falco said “Toward The Fray” is “an important track for me” and added, “not only in the subject matter, but it turned out to be the last song I wrote with my dear friend and writing partner Travis McKeveny who passed away tragically in September 2021. We were both very proud of how this song turned out, which was cut live in the studio in 2020.”
