Jamgrass act The Infamous Stringdusters have revealed plans to issue a new album entitled Laws Of Gravity on January 13 via Compass Records. The band also issued the record’s politically charged first single “This Ol’ Building.”

Coming less than one year after the release of their guest-filled LP Ladies & Gentleman, which was issued earlier this year, Laws Of Gravity includes 13 new tracks. The album was co-produced by Billy Hume and recorded by dobro player Andy Hall, guitarist Andy Falco, banjoist Chris Pandolfi, fiddler Jeremy Garrett and bassist Travis Book in Nashville.

“This is an important record for us, coming off the Ladies & Gentleman project,” said Falco. “That album exposed us to a lot of new fans and we toured so hard this year, it really feels like a great time in the history of the band. We think Laws Of Gravity is a quintessential Stringdusters record, and that all facets of the group are represented on the album in a cohesive way.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Falco specifically addressed the single “This Ol’ Building.” Regarding the lyrical content, he told the outlet:

While I wrote it from quite a different angle, the words have taken on a different meaning to me now. It seems now to be a warning to come together. We must be united and try to understand each other. We must respect each other, listen to each other and help each other. All sides of the political spectrum can and should debate what’s right and wrong, but we must watch closely the decisions being made on all our behalf, and we should argue and fight peacefully for human rights for all – and the environment.
