Howard Stern Interviews Robert Plant For The First Time
By Scott Bernstein Oct 18, 2017 • 8:04 am PDT
Tuesday’s installment of the Howard Stern Show featured the debut of Led Zeppelin frontman and solo artist Robert Plant on the SiriusXM program. Howard spoke with one of his heroes for just about 90 minutes on a variety of topics including Led Zeppelin’s historic career.
Stern began by talking about Robert’s early days and when Plant knew he could sing. The vocalist discussed the influence of Elvis Presley and the time the two music icons met. Howard asked about Jimmy Page with Plant responding their relationship was like a marriage of sorts. Robert also mentioned his first encounters with drummer John “Bonzo” Bonham. Stern went on to play a number of Led Zeppelin tracks as well as “In The Mood” and was able to nudge Plant to discuss each of them. Another cool moment was when the singer told the story of stealing all of The Who’s food at a performance of Tommy.
Robert Plant kept on trying to move the conversation to talk of his recently released album, Carry Fire. Howard repeatedly kept discussing Led Zeppelin before finally bringing up the new LP and Plant’s Sensational Space Shifters outfit. Then, the pair would go off on tangents before returning to Carry Fire talk.
