Holly Bowling Shares ‘St. Stephen’ From Grateful Dead Tribute Album
On November 20, Holly Bowling will self-release a new album of Grateful Dead covers entitled Seeking All That’s Still Unsung. The pianist revealed the release date, tracklist and shared audio of “St. Stephen” from the LP following the completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Holly’s first interpretation of the Grateful Dead’s music came in 2015 when she was asked by JamBase to participate in the Songs Of Their Own video series. Bowling contributed a cover of “Eyes Of The World” and soon thereafter began working Dead songs into her live shows. In 2016, Holly released Better Left Unsung, her first album containing instrumental renditions of Grateful Dead material.
“St. Stephen” kicks off the nine-track Seeking All That’s Still Unsung, which was recorded, mixed and mastered at 25th St. Recording in Oakland. Bowling’s forthcoming LP also includes covers of GD repertoire song suites “Lost Sailor”/”Saint Of Circumstance,” “China Cat Sunflower”/”I Know You Rider,” “Weather Report Suite” and more.
