High Sierra Music Festival Announces 2017 Artist Playshops

This year’s High Sierra Music Festival will take place at Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds in Quincy, California June 29 – July 2 featuring the Trey Anastasio Band, Ween, STS9, Gov’t Mule, Andrew Bird, Snarky Puppy, Mike Gordon and dozens more. Organizers of the event have just unveiled the lineup, schedule and descriptions of the 2017 Artist Playshops.

These events feature a mix of one-of-a-kind collaborations, tributes and theme-based sets. Festivalgoers will have a chance to watch musicians in intimate settings, most of which take place at the High Sierra Music Hall. Friday’s Playshops include a Blues Jam featuring Sean Leahy, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore presenting a drum academy master class, Billy String & Band honoring Doc Watson, a celebration of the music of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings from Con Brio and Erica Falls and more.

Saturday’s Playshops include a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the iconic Grateful Dead album Terrapin Station presented by JamBase featuring Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz and emceed by Jay Blakesberg as well as a tribute to Gregg Allman, the High Sierra Bluegrass Pick hosted by The Lil Smokies and more. A Funk Jam, the Bloody Mary Ball, Skerik’s Improv Lab and Guitarmageddon: Summer Of Love are among the Playshops scheduled for Sunday.
