Happy Birthday Geddy Lee: Listen To Isolated Rush Bass Tracks
By Andy Kahn Jul 29, 2019 • 2:19 pm PDT
Rush bassist Geddy Lee today celebrates his 65th birthday. His birthday comes nearly four years to the day after the trio’s last gig on August 1, 2015 at The Forum in Los Angeles. The band’s R:40 may be the last if drummer Neil Peart has his way, but we’re hopeful Rush has a future.
In honor of the man born on this day in 1953 Gary Lee Weinrib who along with his bandmates Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013, today we’ve assembled isolated bass tracks for five of Rush’s well-known songs. Lee’s master work on his Fender Jazz Bass is clearly on display on the songs “Tom Sawyer,” “YYZ,” “Limelight,” “The Trees” and the “2112 Suite” which you can hone in on in the clips presented below.
