Happy Birthday Chris Robinson: Solo Performance & Interview
By Andy Kahn Dec 20, 2017 • 8:32 am PST
Today is the Chris Robinson Brotherhood namesake frontman Chris Robinson’s 51st birthday. The multi-talented songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and harmonica player performed last night in San Francisco at the Haight Street Art Center. The event that was a benefit for Blue Bear School of Music was recorded live for the bi-monthly Renee & Irish Greg’s Pop UP! podcast, video of which can be viewed below.
After a chat discussing a variety of topics, Robinson picked up his acoustic guitar (while crediting Barry Sless for his skills) and opened with “Sweet Sweet Lullaby.” Robinson and the hosts then talk about the former’s recent appearance with The Terrapin All-Stars ahead of his offering of “High Is Not the Top.” Another chat touches on talkers at concerts, Terry Reid, Spotify, the Grateful Dead (“I’m really into Jerry Garcia”) and more. Robinson concluded his performance with “Badlands Here We Come.”
Be on the lookout tomorrow for Episode 2 of The JamBase Podcast featuring “The Art Of The Setlist” with Chris Robinson. Watch his appearance last night here:
