Happy Birthday Bonnie Raitt: 12 Standout Live Collaborations

By Andy Kahn Nov 8, 2018 2:07 pm PST

Bonnie Raitt celebrates her birthday today. Born in Burbank, California on this date in 1949, Bonnie was quickly immersed in a world of music with her actor father John Raitt having been a successful star on Broadway. Since making her debut in the early-1970s, Bonnie Raitt’s music, anchored by her slide-guitar playing and instantly recognizable vocals, is integrated in the fabric of American blues-rock.

Throughout her career, Raitt has worked with an impressive array of equally talented musicians, including sharing the stage with her father. For Bonnie’s birthday today, below is a collection of memorable live collaborations the guitarist has participated in over the years. First is a video of Raitt and John Prine singing what’s become one of her signature songs, “Angel From Montgomery.” That’s followed by live performances with the Grateful Dead, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Mavis Staples, The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, John Lee Hooker, James Taylor, Ruth Brown, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Hornsby and Jackson Browne. Check out the live collabs below:
