Today marks legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter Peter Frampton’s 70th birthday. Born on April 22, 1950, in Beckenham, Kent in the UK, a 16-year-old Frampton later found success with British band The Herd in the mid-1960s and also helped to form the supergroup Humble Pie.

But the success he enjoyed with those groups could not compare to the meteoric rise of his star after the release of his breakthrough solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, which arrived in 1976. A year before the live double LP came out, Frampton appeared on the renowned late night music program, The Midnight Special, where he performed what would become the album’s smash hit singles: “Show Me The Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do” and “Baby, I Love Your Way.”
