In the middle of the first set of last night’s Dead & Company show in Worcester the band debuted their take on “Peggy-O.” Bob Weir used a D’Angelico guitar signed by all the members of Dead & Company for “Peggy-O” and that instrument will be auctioned off to benefit more than a half-dozen charities.

The guitar Weir played on “Peggy-O” is a one-of-a-kind EX-SS guitar, which features the Dead & Company logo on its pick guard. Dead & Company tour moves on to Buffalo tonight and the guitar will be on display and open for bidding this evening on the concourse at the First Niagara Center, and then will continue across the country with stops in Columbus, Greensboro, Atlanta and other cities. HeadCount organized the auction and the person with the highest bid by the end of the tour – from any city – will become the guitar’s proud owner.
Last night wasn’t the first time Weir played a D’Angelico guitar on stage that was later auctioned for charity. The axe he played during a portion of a Fare Thee Well show went for a whopping $526,000, while another guitar he used at September’s Lockn’ Festival fetched $65,000. Other items up for auction are a signed poster and signed Dead & Company Remo drumhead.
