Guests For Allen Toussaint Tribute At Jazz Fest Announced

One of the more intriguing sets listed on this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is a tribute to Allen Toussaint, the legendary NOLA performer/composer who passed away in November. Recently, the star-studded list of performers who will join members of Toussaint’s band at the Gentilly Stage on May 1 has been announced.
Aaron Neville, Cyril Neville, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, Jon Batiste, Jimmy Buffett and Davell Crawford will appear with members of the Allen Toussaint Band at the Fairgrounds on the final day of this year’s Jazz Fest according to NOLA.com. The Jazz Fest set is one of three tributes featuring the Allen Toussaint Band set to take place in New Orleans over the coming weeks.
A Toussaint tribute is also scheduled for as part of the French Quarter Festival. Guests Leo Nocentelli, Walter “Wolfman” Washingon, Davell Crawford, James Andrews, Big Sam Williams and Robin Barnes will join the band on Friday, April 8 at the NOLA House Of Blues. In addition, Toussaint’s band will perform at the Jazz & Heritage Foundation gala with guests Crawford, John Boutte and Suzanne Bonseigneur on April 21. Keyboardist Joe Krown will play piano at all three upcoming tributes.
