Legendary rocker Gregg Allman has announced the return of the Laid Back Festival in 2016, the one-day event he performed at and curated this past summer. This year Gregg will curate and perform at a total of five Laid Back Festivals held at different American cities through the summer of 2016. Lineups for each of the events will be announced soon.
The 2016 installments of Gregg Allman’s Laid Back Festival will be held at Atlanta’s Lakewood Amphitheatre on May 7, Nashville’s Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater at Fontanel on June 25, Chicago’s FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island on July 16, Long Island’s Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on July 23 and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater on September 25. Jones Beach hosted the inaugural Laid Back Festival this past summer.
“We had so much fun last year, that it seemed like we should try this in other towns,” said Allman in a press release announcing the return of Laid Back. “The idea was to put the Laid Back vibe on more than just the music. It had to be about food and drink too, and the people just loved it. So we’re coming back and taking it on the road!”
In addition to the music, the Laid Back Festival will also celebrate America’s diverse and delicious food and drink, with more than 20 regional restaurants, food trucks, breweries, wineries and other artisans represented at each festival stop. “Laid Back Festival was one of the highlights of the 2015 Jones Beach season,” added Steve Gaber, VP Booking at Live Nation in New York. “It’s a great day of music, food and friends and we couldn’t be happier to bring the experience into new markets.” Look for each event to feature two stages including the main “Laid Back” stage and the more intimate “Low Country” stage.
