Six years ago today Greensky Bluegrass welcomed guitarists Eric Krasno and The Infamous Stringdusters’ Andy Falco to share the stage. The guest spots came during GSBG’s concert at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, New York on January 29, 2015.
Greensky got things underway with “Just To Lie” which headed into “Train Junkie.” “The Four,” “In Control,” “A Letter to Seymour” and “I’d Probably Kill You” came next before the band stretched “All Four” out to around 16 minutes. GSBG then brought out Krasno, joking that it was the guitarist’s first time at Brooklyn Bowl (Krasno’s band Soulive conducted a residency at the venue dubbed Bowlive for a good part of the last decade). “He likes it here, says it’s a cool place. He might come back,” dobroist Anders Beck exclaimed. Kraz and Greensky then delivered Buffalo Norton’s “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox.” The cover saw Eric adding electric guitar to the mix and trading licks with Beck on the extended jam to help the band close out the first frame.

Greensky kicked off the second set with “Bring Out Your Dead.” The band then introduced Andy Falco. The guitarist teased a little of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” before all six musicians got into the gospel standard “Working On A Building.” Falco stayed on for David Grisman’s “Eat My Dust,” which saw Andy and the band stretching out a bit bringing the songs through peaks and valleys with Falco utilizing some effects on a reggae-tinged section before the entire band revving up the jam to its conclusion. GSBG then went it alone for “What’s Left of the Night,” “Wings for Wheels,” “Demons” and a cover of Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade of Love” before embarking on a massive section that saw the band alternating between “Tapology” and “One Slip” to close the set. Eric Krasno would reemerge to join the quintet for an encore of Gregg Allman’s “Midnight Rider” to bring the evening to a close.
