Michigan jamgrass act Greensky Bluegrass concluded a sold-out, three-night stand at the famed 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night. Fruition opened the action and once again members of the band sat-in with GSBG later in the night.

Greensky kicked off Saturday’s show with “Bring Out Your Dead” and “Less Than Supper” before bringing out Kevin Gregory to add tambourine to “Burn Them.” Last night’s first set came to a climax with a version of Anders Beck’s “Broke Mountain Breakdown” that featured a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “The Wind Cries Mary” within. The second set started with “Past My Prime” before GSBG embarked on an adventurous “Run Or Die” > “Wings For Wheels” > “Don’t Lie” > “Eyes Of The World” > “Don’t Lie” sequence. Following “Merely Avoiding,” Gregory, Mimi Naja and Guido Batista danced along to “Demons.” Up next was “Jaywalking” which Greensky worked into a cover of Billy Joel’s “Big Shot” both of which featured Tyler Thompson on drums.

Saturday’s encore was a two-band affair as Fruition emerged to assist Greensky Bluegrass on a pair of songs. Up first was “Death Comes Knockin'” which was followed by a take on Bob Dylan’s “Tonight I’ll Be Staying With You.” Greensky Bluegrass and Fruition continue Winter Tour with two nights in Pittsburgh on Tuesday and Wednesday.
