Greensky Bluegrass delivered their first concert of 2021 on Friday at The Woodlands Nature Preserve in Charleston, South Carolina. The quintet kicked off the show with a debut of Boston’s “Foreplay/Long Time.”
After the fitting “Foreplay/Long Time” debut, Greensky continued with the classic “Just to Lie” ahead of a pair of songs from their 2016 album Shouted, Written Down & Quoted in “Room Without a Roof” and “A Letter to Seymour. The favorite “In Control” came next. “Can’t Stop Now” would count as the penultimate song of the first frame prefacing set closer, the staple “All Four.”

The second set got underway with the vintage “Into The Rafters” followed by “Prom Night” and “Wish I Didn’t Know” from the band’s 2019 LP, All For Money. The band then ran through “Run or Die,” “200 Miles from Montana” and “What You Need” ahead of The Stanley Brothers bluegrass standard “Pig In A Pen,” which was last played on November 11, 2019 in GSBG’s native Kalamazoo, Michigan, a 44 show gap as per Phantasy Tour. After “Reverand,” the quintet closed out the second set with the Norton Buffalo-penned, Jerry Garcia Band staple “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox,” which saw a “Foreplay/Long Time” tease. Greensky Bluegrass would encore with “Wings For Wheels.”
