David Crosby will be the special guest in this week’s pre-show.
The Grateful Dead‘s September 29, 1989 concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California will be featured as this week’s Shakedown Stream archival broadcast. Video of the show will premiere on Friday, July 24 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the JamBase Livestreams Calendar via YouTube after a pre-show featuring special guest David Crosby.
On September 29, 1989, the Dead kicked off a legendary fall tour with the first of three concerts at Shoreline. The big news from the night was the return of “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” after 19 years on the shelf. Other highlights include the final “Franklin’s Tower” played without “Help On The Way” and “Slipknot!” as well as a powerful “Blow Away” sung by keyboardist Brent Mydland and a tasty “Bird Song.”
