The Grateful Dead‘s All The Years Live video series continues with “Rain” from August 26, 1993. The performance of The Beatles cover was filmed at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

“Rain” served as the encore for the Dead’s second of three August 1993 concerts at the Bay Area venue. Fellow Beatles classic “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” closed out the previous night. Both songs were among Beatles covers the Dead started playing after keyboardist Vince Welnick joined the band.

The Grateful Dead debuted their cover of the Lennon/McCartney-penned tune on December 2, 1992 in Denver. Nineteen additional versions followed through June 30, 1995.

Guitarists Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir shared lead vocal duties on “Rain” with Welnick and bassist Phil Lesh providing harmonies. The original famously employs backwards vocals and Weir chimes in with his attempt at them.

The video for the Beatles cover features rain-like effects throughout. Watch the Grateful Dead’s take on “Rain” from August 26, 1993 at Shoreline Amphitheatre below:
