Graham Nash shared a full circle moment with Dutch singer-songwriter Douwe Bob on stage last night in Amsterdam. Bob was brought out to perform “Teach Your Children,” with Nash, who explained the collaboration was decades in the making.

Bob is the son of late Dutch artist Simon Posthuma, whose work with The Fool collective was prominent during the 1960s psychedelic era. The Fool provided stylistic elements for The Beatles, Cream and other British rock bands, including Nash’s group The Hollies. Nash talked about his connection to Posthuma when speaking to the audience about an experience he had several years ago in Amsterdam.

“I was here in Amsterdam at the apartment of my friend Simon,” Nash explained. “And Simon had a young son, I don’t know, about 6 years old. And Simon wanted me to play the piano, which was in his apartment. So I took this young kid and I sat him on my knee and I played ‘Cathedral’ for them. Right now, I’d like to introduce that kid: here’s Douwe Bob! Talk about circles, right?”

The 83-year-old Nash and 32-year-old Bob traded off singing the verses to the classic Crosby, Stills & Nash song. The decades-in-the-making collaboration can be viewed below:
