Watch Brittney Spencer Join Grace Potter For Poignant ‘You & Tequila’ In Hartford

Grace Potter recruited fellow singer-songwriter Brittney Spencer as support for most shows on her current winter tour. The latest stop took place in Hartford on Sunday, where the pair collaborated on “You & Tequila” to start the encore.

Brittney Spencer released her debut full-length studio album, My Stupid Life, this past Friday, January 19. Spencer hopped on Potter’s tour one day prior on Thursday, January 18 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York after Brittney appeared at the inaugural Dead Ahead festival in Mexico.

Grace Potter is touring behind her latest record, 2023's Mother Road. Potter’s band for the excursion features drummer Jordan West, bassist Kurtis Keber and guitarists Indya Bratton and Ricky Dover Jr. The ensemble went heavy on cuts off Mother Road at Hartford’s Infinity Music Hall on Sunday including the title track, “Good Time,” “Lady Vagabond” and three other songs.

When Grace Potter returned for the encore in Hartford, she invited Brittney Spencer to share the stage. Potter told the crowd how excited she was to contribute backing vocals to “Reaching Out” on Spencer’s My Stupid Life LP. Grace and Brittney harmonized together a capella to give fans a taste of “Reaching Out” and decided Potter’s band would learn the song for a future performance. Spencer and Potter then dueted on “You & Tequila,” Grace’s 2011 collaborative single with Kenny Chesney.
