Gov’t Mule‘s Summer Tour with The Magpie Salute rolled into Huber Heights, Ohio on Tuesday night for a concert at Rose Music Center. Both bands loaded the stage for a collaborative encore featuring Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young covers.

After a set from The Magpie Salute heavy on material from High Water I, Mule took the stage for a lengthy set of their own. Warren Haynes & Co. opened with Shout! blues-rock gem “World Boss” and the pulled “Lola, Leave Your Light On” from 2004’s Deja Voodoo. The set continued with a mix of material from throughout Mule’s career including a handful of songs from their most recent album, Revolution Come … Revolution Go.

Gov’t Mule honored The Beatles with covers of “She Said, She Said” and “Tomorrow Never Knows” and then feted The Rolling Stones by working a tease of “Paint It Black” into “Fallen Down” and lyrics from “Gimme Shelter” into a jam on “The Other One.” When Mule returned for the encore they were joined by all six members of The Magpie Salute for a take on the Fleetwood Mac classic “Oh Well.” Drummer Matt Abts and bassist Jorgen Carlsson sat out “Oh Well” but came back to replace The Magpie Salute’s Joe Magistro and Sven Pipien on a show-closing rendition of Neil Young’s “Down By The River.”
