Jimmy Kimmel tapped Gorillaz as the musical guest on Tuesday’s at-home episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Damon Albarn dueted with animated character 2-D on “Aries” for their appearance on the ABC late-night talk show.

“Aries” was originally featured in the third installment of Gorillaz's Song Machine web series last month. The band masterminded by Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are releasing songs via 13 Song Machine episodes that will be rolled out at various points of 2020.

Damon Albarn’s performance on Kimmel marked his first duet with one of his animated “band mates.” Albarn and 2-D kept with the times by recording their parts separately and simulated a Zoom-like video conference in the footage that aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live. While Damon was alone in what appears to be an attic, a man pulling off yoga moves can be spotted behind 2-D.
