Goose’s 2024 Fall Tour arrived at Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene, Oregon on Tuesday. The quintet broke out Tommy James’ “Draggin’ The Line” for the first time since Halloween 2021.

Goose — guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz, percussionist Jeff Arevalo and drummer Cotter Ellis — led off with “Lead The Way,” from their 2016 debut studio album Moon Cabin. The band recently performed the record in full at The Capitol Theatre on April 8, the same day as a total solar eclipse. Next, the band delivered the slow, melodic version of “All I Need” which boasted some top shelf jamming in the first set.

Goose then dusted off Tommy James’ 1971 single, “Draggin’ The Line.” Formerly of Tommy James and the Shondells, the psychedelic “Draggin’ The Line” was James’ biggest hit as a solo artist. The song was also included on the soundtrack to the second film in the Austin Powers franchise, The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Goose last performed “Draggin’ The Line” when they debuted the cover at their 2021 Austin Powers-themed Halloween show at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. The second performance of the song in Eugene marked the first time Goose performed “Draggin’ The Line” in 230 shows, as per ElGoose.net.

Next, “Butterflies,” which Anspach’s band Great Blue originally debuted in May 2022 with Goose unveiling the song a month later. The quintet kept the breakouts coming with the 2024 debut of The Band’s “The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show,” last played on July 1, 2023 for a gap of 86 shows. Goose capped the first set with an expansive “Butter Rum.”

A massive flapjack throwdown on “Pancakes” launched set two. The live favorite clocked in at 34 minutes and heralded a four-song second set. “Bob Don” followed ahead of a nearly 22-minute “Tumble.” Goose sealed the second set with “Slow Ready” before returning to encore with a standalone “(dawn).”
