Goose delivered the second concert of their four-night run at The Capitol Theatre on Monday in Port Chester, New York. Night two saw the band offering a complete performance of their 2016 debut full-length studio album, Moon Cabin.
Goose — guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz, drummer Jeff Arevalo and newly minted member drummer Cotter Ellis — kicked off their Cap run on Sunday, which marked their first show of 2024 and first outing with Ellis. The second night came on the heels of a solar eclipse across much of the U.S.

Presumably in honor of the celestial event, Goose performed their 2016 debut full-length album, Moon Cabin, in full. But the jam quintet launched the concert with “Dr. Darkness,” perhaps another nod to the moon blocking out the sun.
“Dr. Darkness” segued into Moon Cabin opener “Turned Clouds.” The band then headed through some of the record’s more often played songs: “Into The Myst,” “Arcadia” and “Lead The Way,” which concluded the first set.
Set two got underway with Moon Cabin’s “Interlude I.” It was in the album’s three instrumental interludes that fans got a chance to hear rarely played or debuted material. The Cap show marked just the second time “Interlude I” has been played and first time in nearly five years, as per El Goose. “Interlude II” and “Interlude III” had never been performed live.
Set two contained more staples including “Rosewood Heart” and wrapped with a pairing of Moon Cabin closer “Jive II” and its non-album companion “Jive Lee.” Goose returned to encore with the funky favorite “Hot Tea.”
