Goose Debuts Song From Drummer Cotter Ellis’ Band Swimmer In Boston

Goose delivered the second of three concerts at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on Tuesday. The quintet debuted a tune from drummer Cotter Ellis’ band Swimmer, “My Mind Has Been Consumed By Media,” toward the end of the first set.

Goose launched the first frame with “Dr. Darkness.” A cover of Wes Montgomery’s “Switchin” then kicked off a seamless sequence, which included “Atlas Dogs” and “California Magic.” A nearly fifteen-minute rendition of “Time To Flee” capped the segment.

Following “Silver Rising,” Goose unveiled their version of “My Mind Has Been Consumed By Media.” With Cotter singing lead along with guitarist Rick Mitarotonda and keyboardist Peter Anspach handling backing vocals. The song also saw percussionist Jeff Arevalo on a second guitar as Trevor Weekz held down the bass.

Goose offered well-jammed renditions of “Yeti” and “Butter Rum” to wrap the first set. Set two got underway with a fast version of “Echo of a Rose.” The quintet then jumped into just the second performance of “Interlude II” off their 2016 debut studio album, Moon Cabin. The premiere came during a complete performance of the album on April 8, the same day as a total solar eclipse.

The sequence continued with Moon Cabin’s “Jive 1” with “Loose Ends” included within. Exploratory renditions of “Red Bird,” “Travelers” and “Elmeg The Wise” capped the second set. Goose returned to encore with a nearly 15-minute rendition of “Animal.”
