Goose’s Jeff Arevalo Appears On ‘The Great Beyond’ Podcast

An interview with Goose percussionist Jeff Arevalo is featured on the latest episode of JamBase partner Osiris Media’s podcast The Great Beyond. Goose’s newest member discusses how he joined the band, his influences, Goosemas and more.

The Great Beyond hosts Greg Knight, Bruce Robinson and Joey Parisi start the episode by recalling their experiences at past Goosemas concerts. Goosemas, which was originally scheduled for December but postponed due to COVID-19, will be held this Saturday, February 26 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Arevalo is a multi-instrumentalist and talks about his early days as a musician at the beginning of his chat with Knight, Robinson and Parisi. Jeff revealed he met Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda during their second week attending the Berklee College Of Music in Boston. “We started hanging out immediately, became fast friends and the rest is history,” Arevalo said. The percussionist then discussed his connection to proto-Goose band Vasudo and shared memories from his first show with the group in Westport, Connecticut.

Jeff played bass with Mitarotonda and Peter Anspach at a few different breweries in 2019. He then joined the pair for An Evening With Osiris event at Brooklyn’s Bell House in January of 2020. Next, the pandemic hit and Arevalo made the most of Goose’s time off the road. “Obviously the pandemic and COVID and quarantine were very hard on a lot of people,” Jeff explained. “We were blessed, we got a lot of good from it. One of those things was finishing the album [Shenanigans Nite Club]. The other was forming what is now known as Orebolo and the third was me joining the band.”
