Goose debuted a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s “Brokedown Palace,” during their concert on Friday night at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. The band treated fans to the first-time performance of the Dead classic for the evening’s encore.
Friday’s concert was the first of a two-night stand at Legend Valley and opened with “Flodown,” or as noted in the setlist “Flopener.” The track off of the band’s new studio album Shinaningan’s Nite Club was followed by “White Lights,” “Arcadia,” “Whales” and “Jive I.” The first set closed with the new album’s opening track “So Ready.”

The second set started with another showcasing of Shinaningan’s Nite Club as “SOS” and “(dawn)” were paired together, just as they are on the album. “Lead The Way” came next, followed by the “Seekers On The Ridge Pt 1 & Pt 2” suite. The rest of the set was filled out by “All I Need” and a cover of Walter Murphy’s disco favorite “A Fifth OF Beethoven.”
The concert ended with the aforementioned debut of “Brokedown Palace,” which had been previously performed by guitarist Rick Mitarotonda and guitarist/keyboardist Peter Anspach with percussionist Jeffrey Arevalo on upright bass in May 2020 as part of an acoustic set. Goose wraps their run of June concerts with another show tonight at Legend Valley. A livestream is available via LiveXLive.com.
