Genesis opened the North American leg of their The Last Domino? reunion tour at Chicago’s United Center on Monday. The band fit their first complete “Misunderstanding” performance since 1984 into the setlist.
Genesis last toured North America in 2007. The lineup for The Last Domino? run features longtime members Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford joined by Daryl Stuermer and Phil’s son, Nic Collins. A second night in Chicago tonight will be followed by stops in Washington D.C., Raleigh, Charlotte, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, New York City, Columbus, Elmont (New York), Brooklyn, Pittsburgh and Boston.
“Misunderstanding” was previously played in full by Genesis on February 27, 1984 in Birmingham, England as per Setlist.FM. A partial version was performed as part of the band’s medley during a celebration of Atlantic Records’ 40th anniversary held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 14, 1988. Genesis originally released “Misunderstanding” on their 1980 studio album, Duke.
The bust out replaced “Duchess” in the only change to the setlist from the UK portion of The Last Domino? tour. Watch fan-shot video footage featuring last night’s “Misunderstanding” below:
