In 2015 Aaron Freeman brought back his Gene Ween persona for a series of concerts dubbed “Gene Ween Does Billy Joel.” Each of the shows saw Gener and a band he put together for the run perform both Billy Joel hits and rarities. The next year Ween reunited for the first time since 2011 and while Gener has been focusing on Ween ever since, he has just announced a Gene Ween Does Billy Joel Tour scheduled for August.
The run begins at Daryl’s House in Pawling, New York on August 4. From there, Gene Ween will bring his tribute to Billy Joel to the Pennsylvania cities of Wilkes Barre and Bethlehem as well as Alexandria, Virginia and Wilmington, Delaware. The Gene Ween Does Billy Joel Tour ends back in New York with stops at Westbury Theater in Westbury on August 11 and at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on August 12.
A pre-sale for most shows begins Tuesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. ET here. Public on-sales start Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m. ET.
