Rush bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson appeared together recently and discussed the future of the legendary rock band. The fate of the Canadian group is currently unknown following drummer Neil Peart’s retirement from touring.
As noted by Ultimate Classic Rock, Lee and Lifeson chatted about the prospect of additional output from Rush at an event in Toronto for the grand opening of the Lee Lifeson Art Park. Rush last played together live in August 2015 and the pair of musicians talk about adjusting to life off the road. Sticking with previous statements, Lee and Lifeson both appeared open to making more Rush music.
“It’s been an adjustment, this past year,” Lifeson said. “We’ve been following up on some other interests that we both have, and we’ve been learning to get used to the idea, and it’s taken a while. But I feel very confident about a lot of things, and music is definitely still one of them. I’m sure we’ll do something in the future. We can’t just stop playing and writing music together.”
“I play almost every day,” Lee said. “I’ve been traveling a lot with my wife. We’re very big into seeing the world and taking advantage of this break in my career, whatever it may be. But I love playing, and I play a lot. And sooner or later, the right thing will happen.”
