The Shins, Iron & Wine, Thievery Corporation and other contributors to the Garden State film soundtrack will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special concert. “Garden State: The 20th Anniversary Concert” will be held on March 29, 2025 at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
Produced by cocolittle media, proceeds from the all-star concert will benefit The Midnight Mission. Other “Garden State: The 20th Anniversary Concert” participants include Frou Frou, Colin Hay, Remy Zero, Cary Brothers, Bonnie Somerville and Zero 7's Sophie Barker. Additional special guests are expected to appear as well.
Tickets to the one-night-only event go on sale on Friday, October 18 at 9 a.m. PT.
Written, directed and starring Zach Braff, Garden State was released in 2004. Also starring Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Ian Holm, Jean Smart and Method Man, Garden State was noteworthy for its soundtrack, which earned Braff a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
A memorable scene in the film involving Braff’s character and Portman’s character occurs when she prompts him to listen to “New Slang” by The Shins, while delivering the memorable dialog, “You gotta hear this one song, it’ll change your life, I swear.”
