Earlier in the week we shared full show audio of Otiel Burbridge’s birthday celebration that took place at NedFest in Nederland, Colorado. The bassist, who was celebrating his 53rd trip around the sun, invited a number of his musical friends to join him for the set, which mixed a diverse selection of covers from the likes of The Meters, Jerry Garcia, The Isley Brothers, The Band, a pair of Bobs – Dylan and Marley, and more.
The two hour celebration showed off the Dead & Company/ARU/Allman Brothers Band bassist’s musical influences, which included a lengthy and gorgeous rendition of Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers To Cross” and an extended take on Garcia’s “Reuben & Cerise.” Burbridge’s band for the night featured Melvin Seals on keyboards, John Kadlecik and Ian Neville on guitar, Jay Lane on drums, vocalists Lyle Divinsky and Alfreda Gerald, percussionist Weedie Braimah and a horn section of Natalie Cressman and Jennifer Hartswick.
Full show video of the entire set has now surfaced on YouTube captured by evenstev, which you can watch below:
