Michigan’s own Greensky Bluegrass headlined the action at the 15th annual Hoxeyville Music Festival Saturday in Wellston, Michigan after guest-filled sets on Friday. The band played three sets over the course of the day and brought up a few old friends to help out during their second set.

GSBG kicked off the action in the afternoon with a nine-song set that included beloved originals “A Letter To Seymour,” “In Control,” “Old Barns,” “Tied Down,” “Blood Sucking F(r)iends,” “All Four” and “Leap Year” as well as covers of New Grass Revival’s “Can’t Stop Now” and “Funky Bitch” by Son Seals. The second set opened with “Past My Prime” and “Wheel Hoss” before Greensky brought out Jay Cobb Anderson of Fruition to lend a hand on their own “Fixin’ To Ruin” and The Rolling Stones’ “Jumping Jack Flash.”

Later in the second set, Greensky Bluegrass was joined by Rayland Baxter guitarist Mr. Jimmy Rowland on “I’d Probably Kill You.” GSBG then concluded the middle set with a “Worried About The Weather” > “China Cat Sunflower” > “Burn Them” sequence. The band ended their time at Hoxeyville ’17 with a third set consisting mostly of fan-favorite originals including “Demons,” “Kerosene,” “Just To Lie” and “Take Cover.” Greensky did insert portions of “One Slip” by Pink Floyd within their own “Tarpology” to end the closing stanza. For the encore, the five-piece said farewell with a typically extended “Don’t Lie.”
