Full Show Friday | Talking Heads For Tina Weymouth’s Birthday

Today marks former Talking Heads bassist Tina Weymouth’s 63rd birthday and to celebrate we’ve dedicated this week’s Full Show Friday column to the Heads. Let’s set the JamBase time machine to 1979 for the Fear Of Music Tour stop at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX.

Shortly after this tour the Talking Heads would expand their lineup for live shows including the addition on Busta “Cherry” Jones on bass as Weymouth would often play synth. However at this show the Talking Heads performed as a quartet as we get to see Tina hold down the bottom end throughout the set. David Byrne and Co. focus on material from Fear Of Music such as “Cities,” “Heaven” and “Air” as well as a smattering of older material like the “Psycho Killer” that brings the performance to a close.
