On April 14, The Fox Theatre in Atlanta hosted a pair of solo performances by Prince. The Piano & A Microphone Tour stop featured The Purple One alone on stage – as the name implied – with simply a microphone and a piano. The pair of performances at The Fox ended up being one of the final times the legendary musician played in public, and for Full Show Friday, below is an audience recording of the late show from last Thursday night in ATL.
Prince played a number of his most well-known songs at The Fox, incorporating “Little Red Corvette,” “Dirt Mind,” “Cream,” “Dirty Mind,” “Purple Rain” and “Diamonds And Pearls,” and a number of others into the setlist. He also mixed in covers by The Staples Singers, Bob Marley and his longtime collaborator Jill Jones during the 90-minute multi-encore set.
Prince was apparently pleased with the shows at The Fox, playing a 30-minute recording for fans at his Paisley Park complex last Saturday and reportedly mentioning a desire for an official live release. That same night he showed off a new piano, demonstrating it for a few moments before a small group of fans who were there for a last-minute dance party.
