Full Show Audio: Tedeschi Trucks Band Welcomes More Guests For Night Two Of 2016 Beacon Residency

The Tedeschi Trucks Band continued a six-show residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Saturday night. While Friday’s opener featured an opening act, Saturday’s show was “An Evening With The Tedeschi Trucks Band” with two full sets from the Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks led 12-piece band.

Up first from the TTB was a rare cover of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Are You Ready,” which was followed by two heavy rotation originals: “Made Up Mind” and “Do I Look Worried.” The rest of the first set was heavy on covers including The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Darlin’ Be Home Soon,” Elmore James’ “The Sky Is Crying” and Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.” Derek, Susan and the band ended the first set with originals “Don’t Know What It Means” and “Let Me Get By.”

The second set saw the TTB open with “Anyhow” and “Bound For Glory” ahead of the Derek Trucks showcase “Midnight In Harlem.” Up next was Freddie King’s “Palace Of The King” followed by the group’s take on “I’ve Got A Feeling” by The Beatles. “Crying Over You” was debuted during last year’s run and was played as part of Saturday’s second set leading into covers of “Fire And Rain” (James Taylor) and “I Pity The Fool” (Bobby “Blue” Bland). The Tedeschi Trucks Band welcomed The London Souls’ guitarist Tash Neal on the second set closing “The Storm.” Neal’s London Souls band mate Chris St. Hilare and guitarist Junior Mack were the TTB’s guests for an encore of “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “Space Captain.” After a few nights off, the run continues at the Beacon on Tuesday night featuring special guest Dave Mason of Traffic fame.
