Green Leaf Rustlers made a return to the stage with a performance on Saturday at Love Field in Point Reyes Station, California as part of (((folkYEAH!))) Presents Parachute Days’ Western Weekend lineup. The band led by frontman Chris Robinson played two sets as they appeared together for the first time since their inaugural tour last March.
The day of music began with appearances by San Geronimo and Ross James & The Broken Kittens. Robinson is joined in the Green Leaf Rustlers by bassist Pete Sears, drummer John Molo, guitarist Greg Loiacono and multi-instrumentalist Barry Sless.
Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” led off the first GLR set on Saturday and was followed by a series of classic country and blues favorites. Some of the additional first set selections included Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street,” George Jones’ “Honky Tonk Song,” Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” Elvis Presley’s “That’s Alright Mama,” Townes Van Zandt’s “Standin’,” Merle Haggard’s “The Bottle Let Me Down” and Gram Parsons’ “Big Mouth Blues.”
