While Ween played four installments of Bonnaroo between performing at the inaugural fest in 2002 and the 2010 festival, they hadn’t returned since…until last night. Of course, the band featuring Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman joined by Glenn McClelland, Claude Coleman Jr. and Dave Dreiwitz were broken up for duration of that time, but Ween reunited earlier this year and were one of the performers on the final day of this year’s Bonnaroo.
Ween threw down a powerful festival set on The Farm in Manchester, Tennessee on Sunday that contained material from throughout their career. Highlights included an extended “Take Me Away,” Gener rocking mandolin on “Ocean Man,” and an oddly placed but appreciated “Mollusk” set closer. The group’s set also featured beloved classics “Transdermal Celebration,” “Roses Are Free,” “Buckingham Green” and more.
