Free Downloads: 100-Track Bruce Hornsby Live Compilation

Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers have a big summer planned that includes a handful of festival appearances and a series of dates with Railroad Earth. Hornsby fansite will follow all the action as the best source for setlists and more from the band’s live shows. is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary and has come up with a way to honor the occasion that we’re excited to tell you about.

The Team has assembled an incredible compilation of 100 live tracks spanning Hornsby’s entire career that’s available as free MP3 downloads via this page. As of press time, 80 of the 100 tracks have been posted and the remaining 20 should go up shortly.

Here’s an explanation of what’s included within: celebrates its fifteenth anniversary this Wednesday, June 12. We’ll have plenty to come, but one fitting celebration is to publish (for the first time as MP3 download) a chronology of Bruce’s career.

Over those fifteen years I’ve noted particular favourites of Bruce Hornsby’s performances, whether mine or those well received in the community.

I’ve produced a list of one hundred of Bruce’s finest and compiled them into this download for you, released over five days…solo performances, Range, Noisemakers, guest appearances, covers, songs made up on the spot…I would like to think that this is a worthy documentation of Bruce’s career to date.

I’ve restricted the choice to soundboards or decent tapings, so the quality should be of a high standard.

The end result will be one hundred songs, which will fit onto ten CDs.

Some of the highlights include a track from Hornsby’s 1977 senior recital at the University of Miami, a 12-minute version of “The Way It Is” from 1987, Bruce’s cover of “Madman Across The Water” by Elton John, a duet on “The End Of The Innocence” with Don Henley, a duet with Bob Weir on “Jack Straw,” a latinised version of “Scarlet Begonias,” a take on “Across The River” featuring an orchestra and a bluegrass version of “Jumping Jack Flash” with special guest Sam Bush. As noted, the tracks are in MP3 format and are available for download individually. We used Down Them All to grab the entire compilation in one shot, though we make no assurances as to how that program will work for you.

If this compilation sounds up your alley, head over to the download page.
