Franz Nicolay Rejoins The Hold Steady

Brooklyn-based rock band The Hold Steady has announced the return of former multi-instrumentalist Franz Nicolay who left the band in 2010. The now six-piece will come together later this year for a limited run of shows in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the release of their album Boy & Girls In America.

Nicolay exited the group that currently includes frontman Craig Finn, guitarists Tad Kubler and Steve Selvidge, bassist Galen Polivka and drummer Bobby Drake before the recording of their album Heaven Is Whenever which arrived in May 2010. The Hold Steady followed that LP with the release of their most recent album Teeth Dreams in March 2014 and this fall they will reissue their 2004 debut Almost Killed Me and 2005 follow-up Separation Sunday on vinyl via Frenchkiss Records.

Due to an unexpected delay, the details of the upcoming fall tour dates are now expected to be revealed on Wednesday, May 18. Here’s the message posted by the band:
