Foo Fighters Welcome Krist Novoselic In Seattle

On Saturday night Foo Fighters returned to their city of origin with a homecoming show at Seattle’s Safeco Field. The multi-platinum rock act’s night was highlighted by a reunion of former Nirvana bandmates midway through their 22-song career-spanning show.

Dave Grohl & Co. kicked off their night at the home of Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners with “All My Life” from their 2002 release One by One. From there the band would work their way through selections from eight of their studio albums delivering takes on fan-favorites like “The Sky In The Neighborhood,” “My Hero,” “These Days,” “Monkey Wrench,” “Best Of You” and “Everlong.” The biggest surprise of the night came midway through the Foos evening as Krist Novoselic emerged. The bassist, whose current band Giants In The Trees served as the night’s opener, last appeared on stage with the Foo Fighters back in December 2017.

The augmented act then lit into a take on The Vaselines’ “Molly’s Lips,” which Grohl prefaced by saying that “This is an old song. We haven’t done this song in a long time.” The cover was last played by the Foo Fighters back in 2015. Grohl and Novoselic had previously recorded a take on the song during their days in Nirvana for the iconic grunge act’s 1992 EP Hormoaning, which was sold only at their shows in Australia and Japan that year.
