Famed keyboardist Gregg Rolie became Foo Fighters‘ latest high-profile guest this past Saturday night, when he sat-in with the band at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. The co-founding member of both Santana and Journey showed off his organ skills on an “Oye Cómo Va” vamp towards the middle of Foo’s set in Zilker Park.

The appearance from Rolie, who lives in the Austin area, came after Shania Twain joined Foo Fighters a week prior during the band’s set at the first weekend of the 2023 ACL Fest. Billy Idol, Michael Buble and Alanis Morissette also collaborated with Dave Grohl and company over the past few months.

Gregg Rolie emerged following Foo Fighters’ ninth song on Saturday night. “Ladies and gentleman, we usually have [Foo Fighters keyboardist] Rami “Saint” Jaffee but tonight we have a member of Santana who fucking played at Woodstock,” Grohl exclaimed as Rolie took up position next to Jaffee in keys world. “Let’s here it for our buddy Gregg right now!”

Rami Jaffee played the main “Oye Cómo Va” theme as Rolie settled in and unleashed a stellar run on organ. “Oh shit, you ain’t gonna hear this at any other Foo Fighters show,” Grohl noted while Gregg Rolie continued to solo. Dave gave the lyrics of the Tito Puente-penned tune that scored Santana a huge hit in 1970 a go but didn’t get much beyond the title. The Foo Fighters frontman danced around and the band pulled off the break before Rolie took a final organ solo.

“Do all keyboard players look exactly the same?” Grohl quipped in pointing out the similarities in Jaffee and Rolie’s appearances. “Alright, shut that shit down,” Dave said to bring the brief collaboration to a close.
