The owners of famed Washington D.C. concert venue the 9:30 Club have tapped Foo Fighters to play opening night at The Atlantis on May 30. The intimate new space takes its name from and honors the legacy of the venue that briefly operated at the location where the original 9:30 Club was located upon opening its doors 44 years prior on May 30, 1980.
9:30 Club owners I.M.P. enlisted 44 acts to perform at the cozy, 450-capacity The Atlantis as part of its opening lineup with tickets costing a mere $44. Pixies, Yo La Tengo, Sylvan Esso, Jeff Tweedy, Drive-By Truckers, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Spoon and Ben Gibbard are more of the artists with ties to 9:30 Club history that will play The Atlantis in coming months. Maggie Rogers closes out the series on September 29.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl announced the new venue was coming during the band’s September 2021 concert at the current 9:30 Club location, which is located adjacent to The Atlantis. “We’ve been doing our smallest shows in other peoples’ venues for too many years now,” explained I.M.P. chairman Seth Hurwitz in a statement as per Rolling Stone. “We needed a place that’s ours. This will be where we help introduce new artists to the world.”
Tickets for the opening run of shows at The Atlantis will be sold through a lottery utilizing the Ticketmaster Request platform. Register via Tickets Today by Friday, April 7 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
